Please read the following information carefully. One of the two options must be chosen before the movers can begin. 2 Brothers trains their movers to take all precautions in preparing and moving your belongings. Since 2 Brothers cannot control whether proper packing methods were used on boxes not packed by our staff (packed by owner or PBO), liability is limited to actual evidence of negligent handling. 2Brothers may decline a claim on any box PBO, for which no exterior damage is visible. In addition, except in cases of negligence, 2Brothers will not be held liable for the internal functioning of electronic or mechanical items, regardless of who packed or unpacked them. Pressboard, particleboard, or engineered ready-to-assemble wood generally may not withstand normal moving procedures, such as disassembly or reassembly. We may deny any responsibility for items made of this material or for inherent vice. 2 Brothers recommends checking with your homeowners or renters coverage to determine the extent to which your household goods may be covered during the course of your move.
2 Brothers Moving LLC provides two coverage options: Limited Liability and Declared Value Protection.
OPTION 1 – LIMITED LIABILITY:(We provide limited liability coverage at no extra charge.) (This is not a policy of insurance. This coverage option is not from an insurance company.) The maximum liability of the carrier is limited to $0.60 per pound per article, in the event of damage or loss. This is the most economical option, as there is no additional charge for this level of liability. If this option is selected, the shipper signing the contract must state (in his or her own handwriting) either a declaration of the actual value of the shipment (explained below as Option 2, Declared Value Protection) or the words “60 cents per pound per article.” Example: If an item weighing 20 lbs. was lost or damaged, the carrier would be liable to the customer for $12.00. (20 lbs. x $.60 = $12.00).
OPTION 2 – DECLARED VALUE PROTECTION: Covers damage to the shipper’s goods only if the damage was caused as a direct result of mover’s negligence. The decision to repair or settle is based on whichever is more cost effective. If the item cannot be repaired, 2 Brothers will reimburse for current market value of the article. The charge for this option is $15 per $1,000 declared value. We charge a minimum of $45 for each move ($3000 declared value). If this option is selected, the client estimates the actual value (current market replacement value) of the shipment and states this value on the contract.
